When it comes to getting people to try your product, there’s no better way than to give them a sample. It's easy to make sampling a part of the marketing strategy every single day. It has obvious applications for quick service, but you should have a standard in place at any level of service or business style: if a guest isn’t sure of their satisfaction with a particular product or service, and giving them a sample is going to help them and add to your TOS (Totally Outrageous Service), then do it!
Sampling can be done as a formal program where you get out from your business and attempt to persuade people or as informally as an employee suggestion “Did you want to try the two and see which one you like better”. The following sampling tips can also be applied if you are part of an organizational event representing your business, like at a trade show or for a business expo with your local chamber of commerce. It also works really well if you have extra inventory and that item is simply going to be discarded, divvy it up (if possible) and pass it out to your guests.
It doesn't matter what kind of business you own. Restaurants can give out food, car detailers can give out product or show how great their product is by just washing a small area, hair salons can give out small shampoo bottles, marketing companies can do a free trial.
Many people will not visit your business simply because they've never tried your product. Sampling gives them a risk-free way to try it, and gives them the assurance that they are not wasting their money on your product.
Sampling is also a great way to meet neighbors and answer any questions they may have.
You can never be too accommodating about giving out free samples and you can never get too many people to try your products.
Sampling is an easy and inexpensive way to promote your products.
