7 Business Strategies for Beginning Entrepreneurs

7 Business Strategies for Beginning Entrepreneurs

November 09, 20215 min read

Starting up a business is no easy task. In fact, 90% of startups don’t survive. It’s important to learn from others’ mishaps to ensure you don’t do the same. Here are a few tips to help you along your journey.

  • Don’t Dive Right In
Even when the time arrives that you feel you’re ready to take the bull by the horns, it’s important to take things slow. Hang on to your day job until you know for sure that your business can supplement the income that you need.

When you’re only relying on the income of your business, you may be less creative and driven at the start.

You also do not want to appear to be distressed or anxious when trying to get new customers or affiliates.

  • Get Ready for Some Long Days
Whether you keep your job or are just trying to make some extra money on the side, you are going to end up working way more than you’re probably used to.

Most people believe that running your own business will provide them with the luxury and time to do whatever they want. But the reality is that the normal business owner works almost double of their employees, especially starting out.

In the beginning your business will not survive without your blood, sweat, and tears. You are now in charge of HR, marketing, and all the financials, and that means you need to make the right decisions for your business.

Success Systems offers lots of free resources to make sure you know the basics before getting started.

  • Figure Out Your Target Audience
You may think you know what your customers want, but the best way to really find out is to ask them.

Social media has made that an easier task than ever these days. Putting out surveys on Facebook and Instagram is a great way to find out what areas you can improve to provide the best service and products to your customers. You don’t need to take all the advice given, but I guarantee they will provide you with at least a few golden nuggets that will help your business.

  • Keep A Close Eye on The Financials
Many businesses don’t survive due to loose spending on unnecessary things.

It’s true that you have to spend money to make money, but make sure you’re spending the money on the right things. For example, if you’re opening a restaurant, don’t purchase 10 different kinds of oil looking for the right one. Do your research and purchase only the top 2 or 3 to figure out what works best for you.

Also, starting out with a lot of debt can be very harmful as well. It’s a great idea to investigate ways to raise money before you even open your business, whether it be a GoFundMe or financial backers.

  • Always Be Connecting
It’s impossible to start a business without some help from others. Networking with other people who are in your same field is incredibly important.

They can share ideas about what has worked for them and what hasn’t worked to save you a lot of time. Although we like to think we can do it all on our own, there are definitely areas that will work better if you outsource them to the right people. Networking can provide those important resources such as accountants or the best POS system to use.

  • Love What You Do
Running your own business is not easy, and the only way to make it is to make sure your passion is part of the business.

Maybe you own a restaurant, but your passion is music. Building a musical culture into the business will not only keep you inspired but will also help you find your niche.

To ensure that your business will do well, you need to incorporate your passions with current market demands. You can’t just put anything on the market and expect people to buy it. It has to meet the needs of your customer.

  • Create Systems Early on to Help Future Growth
Putting systems in place early on will create a business that is not just focusing on the present but is also looking to the future.

When the time comes for you to start hiring, you will need these systems in place to show your employees the culture of your business. When you have your ducks in a row and you’re excited about your business, others will get excited with you and want to work for you.

It’s important to bring on talented and hard-working employees to ensure that your business will still succeed even if you take a step back.

The easiest way to be able to step back and still succeed is having the systems in place that can be passed down to everyone. If everyone learns the systems, there will be no confusion about their responsibilities or your expectations.
